Index Manager (cPanel)

What is Index Manager?

The Index Manager allows you to customize the way a directory will be viewed on the web. You can select between a default style, no indexes, or two types of indexing. If you do not wish for people to be able to see the files in your directory, choose no indexing.

How do you turn indexes off for a directory listing?

Click on “Index Manager”, click on the name of the directory you wish to turn indexes off, make sure “No Indexes” is selected and click on the “Save” button.

How do you turn Standard Indexing on for a directory listing?

Click on “Index Manager”, click on the name of the directory you wish to turn standard indexing on, make sure “Standard Indexing (text only)” is selected and click on the “Save” button.

How do you turn Fancying Indexing on for a directory listing?

Click on “Index Manager”, click on the name of the directory you wish to turn fancying indexing on, make sure “Fancying Indexing (graphics)” is selected and click on the “Save” button.

IP Deny Manager (cPanel)

What is IP Deny Manager?

This feature will allow you to block a range of IP addresses to prevent them from accessing your site. You can also enter a fully qualified domain name, and the IP Deny Manager will attempt to resolve it to an IP address for you.

How to block access of my account to an IP or block of IPs?

Click on “IP Deny Manager”, enter the IP or block of IPs you wish to block in the field next to i and click on the “Add” button

How to unblock access of my account to an IP or block of IPs

Click on “IP Deny Manager”, select the IP or block of IPs you wish to unblock in the list and click on the “Remove” button.

MySQL Database (cPanel)

What is MySQL?

MySQL is the most popular Open Source SQL Database system. A database is a structured collection of data. MySQL allows you to quickly access, edit add to the database.

How do you create a MySQL database?

Click on “MySQL Databases”, enter the name of the new database in the field next to Db: and click on the “Add Db” button.

How do you add a MySQL user to a MySQL database?

Click on “MySQL Databases”, select the user you wish to add to the database in the first list, select the database to which you wish to add the user in the second list and click on the “Add User to Db” button.

How do you remove a MySQL user from a MySQL database?

Click on “MySQL Databases”, locate the user you wish to remove from the desired database and click on the “Delete” button next to it.

How do you delete a MySQL database user?

What is the hostname of MySQL?

The hostname for connecting to your MySQL database is "localhost"

I have a MySQL database on another server. I need to host and/ or transfer it into my micfo account. How can I do that?

On the server that currently hosts your MySQL database, backup your database using cPanel (if the server is cPanel based,) and now upload it through your micfo cPanel to your micfo.com account.

Otherwise, follow these steps:
1. FTP your database.sql file to your new micfo account.
2. Login to cPanel and create a database.
3. Create a new user and add him to the database you just created.
4. Login via SSH, and run: mysql -u DB_username -p DB_password Database_name < database.sql.

Password Protection (cPanel)

What is the password protection feature?

This option will allow you to require a username and password to access a folder or folders from the web. This can be very useful when you need to limit access to a certain part of your site.

How do you password protect a folder?

Click on “Password protect directories”, click on the folder name you wish to password protect, check the box beside Folder requires a password, enter the name you wish to give to the protected resource and click on the “Save” button.

Example: If you wish to password protect the folder ‘billing’ and name it “Billing Program”, you would click on the billing folder, check the box beside Folder requires a password, you would enter ‘Billing Program’ in the field and you would click on the “Save” button.

How do you add a new user to a protected folder?

Click on “Password protect directories”, click on the protected folder name to which you wish to add the user, enter the name of the new user in the field next to username, enter the desired password in the field next to Password and click on the “Add New User” button.

How do you remove an active user from a password protected folder?

Click on “Password protect directories”, click on the protected folder name where the user is located, select the user in the list below Active Users and click on the “Delete User” button.

How do you change the resource name of password-protected folders?

Click on “Password protect directories”, click on the protected folder name you wish to rename, enter the new name in the field next to Protected Resource Name and click on the “Save” button.

How do you remove the password protection of a folder?

Click on “Password protect directories”, click on the protected folder name you wish to unprotect, uncheck the box beside Folder requires a password and click on the “Save” button.

File and Folder Redirects (cPanel)

What is the folder redirect feature?

Redirects allow you to make a specific web page redirect to another page and display the contents of that page. This way you can make a page with a long URL accessible by a page which has a shorter and easier to remember URL.

How do you redirect a folder to another address?

Click on “Redirects”, enter the name of the folder you wish to redirect in the first field, enter the address where you wish the folder to be redirected in the second field, select if you wish the redirect to be temporary or permanent in the list and click on the “Add” button.

How do you remove a redirect?

Click on “Redirects”, select the redirect you wish to remove in the list under Remove Redirect: and click on the “Remove” button.

Subdomains (cPanel)

What are subdomains?

Subdomains are URLs for different sections of your website. They use your main domain name and a prefix. For example, if your domain is micfo.com a sub-domain of your domain might be support.micfo.com.

How do you add a subdomain?

Click on “Subdomains”, enter the desired name of the subdomain in the field, select the domain to which you wish to add the subdomain and click on the “Add” button.

Example: If you wish to add the subdomain ‘billing’ to the domain ‘bobcompany.com’, you would enter ‘billing’ in the field, select the domain ‘bobcompany.com’ in the list and you would click on the “Add” button.

How do you redirect a subdomain?

Click on “Subdomains”, select the subdomain you wish to redirect in the first list, click on the “Setup Redirection” button next to it, type the address to which you wish the subdomain to redirect to in the field and click on the “Save” button. If you wish to have filename redirection, remember to end a trailing / on the end of the address (i.e. http://www.bobcompany.net/ ).

How do you remove redirection of a subdomain?

Click on “Subdomains”, select the subdomain from which you wish to remove the redirection in the list and click on the “Remove Redirection” button.

How do you remove a subdomain?

Click on “Subdomains”, select the subdomain you wish to remove in the last list and click on the “Delete” button.

How do you grant FTP access to a subdomain?

Click on “FTP Manager”, click on “FTP Accounts” and click on “Add Account”. Enter the FTP information, as explained below:

- Login: Use the same name that you used to create the subdomain.
- Password: Type your desired password for this new FTP account.
- Directory: Use the same name that you used to create the subdomain.
- Click on the “Create” button.

Example: If you wish grant FTP access to the subdomain ‘billing.bobcompany.com’, you would enter ‘billing’ as both the login and directory.

Why doesn't my subdomain load when I include a 'www' in front of it?

When you create a subdomain you can only access it at http://sub.domain.com. You can not access it at http://www.sub.domain.com.

I just created a subdomain, however it doesn't show up immediately at http://subdomain.mydomain.com. What do I do?

Usually it takes 2-12 hours for subdomains to activate. If it is not active after 12 hours, please send us a support ticket. We will manually add a Record entry to your DNS zone, and it will resolve the problem in 30 minutes to 4 hours.

Domain Name Servers (DNS)

How do I register my domain name servers (DNS) with GoDaddy?

You can register your domain name servers under your account's Domain Host Summary section. Registering your name server IP addresses allows you to define a name for your server based on your domain name. You can register any host name in the format:
host.domain.tld (ex.: ‘nameserver1.yourdomain.com’).

Follow these steps to register your name servers:

1. Log into your customer account at the GoDaddy Account Login Page. (If you have trouble logging in, our Password Reset Form may help you.)
2. Go to Domains > My Domains. Click the domain you'd like to set up a private name server for.
3. Click ‘Add’ under 'Host Summary'. For ‘Host Name:’ enter ns1. For ‘Host IP 1:’ enter your primary IP address. Click ‘OK’ - your first name server has been created.
4. Click ‘Add’ under 'Host Summary' again. For ‘Host Name:’ enter ns2. For ‘Host IP 2:’ enter the same IP as your primary address, except one number higher. (Ex.: If you received the IP: 70.87.90.194 when signing up, this would be ns1. For ns2 you would use: 70.87.90.195).
5. Click ‘OK’.

After you've registered the private domain name servers, you can now set all your domain names to use them. Like most domain changes, it may take 24-48 hours for this to propagate. This delay applies to all domains with any registrar, not just GoDaddy.

SSL Certificates

Can I purchase a SSL certificate through micfo?

Yes, there will be a charge of $50/year for a SSL certificate, as well as a $24/year fee for a dedicated IP address (unless you already have a dedicated IP address included your hosting package.)

Which vendor does micfo purchase its SSL certificates from?

Can I purchase my own SSL certificate?

Yes, you can purchase your own SSL through any vendor you desire, and micfo will install it on your domain at no additional cost.
